Angels in America! Coming Home Meditation Tomorrow! Art of Transmutation This Sunday! And a 1:1 Reminder!
Let's grow together!
Dear friends,
“Wow…how are you doing?”
So many people I know are weathering extreme, abrupt, and unexpected changes. Are you one of them? I don’t think we can take for granted anymore that the other person—in line at the grocery, on the phone, at school pick up, at yoga class, sitting across from you at the business meeting, etc. etc.—is probably “fine.” The question, can no longer simply be polite inquiry or a formality. We gotta mean it, people.
Maybe this recognition—that a lot of us are not fine right now—is a step in the right direction. Like my friend, David, said to me recently, “When do we get to stop pretending things are normal?” I don’t mean to sound alarmist and I’m not trying to jump on the Trumpocalypse bandwagon. Being not-ok, or ___________ (fill in the blank with the appropriate adjective…furious, enraged, grief-stricken, scared, inspired, determined are some that come to mind…) feels like a critical step towards sobering up and dealing with our situation as adults. Could this be a maturation process?
Whatever it is, we will weather it best if we hold hands through it; if we CARE how our neighbors, our kids, our partners, and even strangers are doing. Compassion has always been—for me—the most magical and powerful of the Buddhist superpowers. If there was ever a time for compassion…it’s NOW.
I’m also re-integrating PLAY and CREATIVITY; turning back to my first love, ART. I’m finding this to be one of the best ways to access my own inner FIRE. It’s also a fun way to practice collaboration, build trust, know each other intimately, and put our collective life force in SERVICE to the wellbeing of the WHOLE. My former mother-in-law (still very dear to me) was an artist. As a young woman, she lived through a revolution in her home country of Hungary. I remember her saying it was “the most ROMANTIC” time of her life. I didn’t quite understand her at the time of the telling, but I am beginning to. Romance is about Eros, about Love, and Life. It’s about knowing what’s precious because we value feeling.
So, how are you feeling?
I want to share a happening…I don’t know what else to call it. Maybe you’ll see the magic in this experience along with me, and maybe you won’t. I think it’s worth a shot. It has to do with ANGELS…not a usual topic for me, but perhaps that’s changing. Perhaps ANGELS are a part of my new not-NORMAL.
Early in January,
and I took our girls for a hike in the Palisades. We hiked up into the mountains—very, very close to where the Palisades fire would start just four days later. At the end of the hike, as we were descending the mountain, two hawks soared just overhead. I stopped, Ari stopped, and we stood there as they looped and played over our heads. They stayed with us quite a long time and I felt they were carrying a message for us. I was so struck by their presence, that I insisted on taking a photo of them in the air. I knew it wouldn’t be a “good” photo, but I felt compelled. When we looked at it, we found this image in the sky:I don’t know about you, but I felt like I was looking at a being, a spirit. I could see the arms, the head, the hair or headpiece, the hips…there she was. But, who was she?
As a regular receiver of transmission and messages from other realms, I was surprised I didn’t recognize this being. I wanted to know who she was. So, later that day when we got out the water colors to make art with the girls, I decided to paint my sky maiden. I thought the act of painting her might reveal more. I came up with this:
Now, I know it’s not a great piece of art. But, that isn’t the point. I painted her with my heart open and as a request for her identity. She reminded me of some of the ancient Sumerian goddesses I’ve known, but there was something still mysterious about her. I left it, trusting the answer would come.
My daughter and I were settled back in New York just two days when we got the news about the fires in LA. Thankfully, Ari and his daughter were safe and the house was ok, but the Palisades was decimated. Ari and his daughter came here to be with us, far from the fires. One morning, he and I sat in deep prayer. At the end of our prayers, he noticed a new tarot deck sitting by my altar. He suggested we each pull a card, and we did. When I turned over my card, I was shocked to see my beautiful feminine friend…
An ANGEL! I nearly fell over. I’ve never been one to see or work with angels. These beauties are new to me (surely I am not new to them). It felt like a miracle, like an answer to my prayers. It felt like a miracle to me—earthy as I am, to be reminded that help is with us and comes in all kinds of majestic forms. I hope this story brings you some joy and maybe hope wherever you are tonight. May the angels be with you, too!
What I loved about this small, mystical journey was the way my noticing paid off (Hawks are aligned with angels? Of course!); how art helped me to find the answers I was seeking; how I was able to rest in trust that the revelation would come; and how the answer did come—sincere seeking is always rewarded. It felt so reassuring when so much is…ehem, UP IN THE AIR.
This week I have three offers to make—three chances for us to play, create, and drum up some much-needed MAGIC and MIRACLES together. I hope you take me up on one. I’m really enjoying the feeling of community that is building in these spaces I’m holding and also co-creating. More and more will be revealed in the coming weeks.
I am so grateful to you, community, readers, supporters, friends.
Please drop a line in the comments if you feel inspired, because I really want to know: “Wow, how are you?

The Art of Transmutation with Ari Kuschnir and Schuyler Brown Returns Sunday from 12-1:30pm ~ Come Make Alchemical Art!
Join me and
for our second Art of Transmutation event on Sunday, February 16th from 12-1:30pm EST. If you’d like to know more about this event, you can read the original invite here. Registration is required:The Art of Transmutation is a regular virtual open studio. It's about activating the alchemical artist within. We will connect with Spirit, connect with each other, and weave ourselves into a community of like-minded, like-hearted creators. The Art of Transmutation is the process and practice of working with our body, heart, mind, voice, and hands to create art that elevates and liberates humanity from the shackles of such illusions as nihilism, isolationism, and materialism. It elevates the imagination and uplifts people. It expresses the full range of human experience and emotion, and is always grounded in Truth. The Art of Transmutation is art that centers the Sacred. It is art that is made from the heart. And it is art that is made in service to something greater than the self, the ego, commercialism or fear. It can be big or small, complex or simple, made alone or with collaborators. It has a purpose and that purpose is to inspire and ignite more life and more love in the world.
How it will flow…

Last, But Not Least: I Have Openings to Work with 3 New Clients 1:1
I absolutely love my work with 1:1 clients. I’ve been coaching, guiding, mentoring, and healing individuals virtually and in-person for many years now. I only work with a few people at a time and I currently have three spots opening as long-time clients graduate! I love that. I never want to create a dependency.
Most of the people who come to me are moving through a life transition; experiencing a spiritual awakening; or just wanting to know themselves and the wisdom of the body better. I have a very refined capacity to feel other people (empath) and create the conditions for the release and integration of trauma. I work at the level of the subtle nervous system to release blocks and stimulate movement and vitality. I can communicate at the level of the Soul to help you receive guidance from your own Higher/Future Self and your guides. I can create the space for us to rest in the resonance of the Sacred Heart. And I work with the alchemy of the Tantra and the integration of Divine Masculine and Feminine.
I teach every step of the way, providing you with the tools you need to learn how to be more intuitive, grounded, and well-resourced; to feel your emotions, to listen to and heed the wisdom of the body. I work with many women, men, and even couples who are eager to enter the domain of the body and the sacred heart. The experience is transformative. Here are some testimonials…
From a former client:
I had been looking for a somatic-type therapist for 2+ years but couldn’t find the right one. Then, I experienced Schuyler doing an embodied session with a group and was so impressed. I engaged her for 1:1 coaching focused around healing trauma, reactivity, me/my nervous system getting hijacked, intense responses I knew weren’t accurate to my true self, and learning to hold intense emotions. I also did a group retreat with her that was life changing.
She is the kindest, safest, and fiercest person I have ever worked with. She teaches you how to hold and melt intense emotions from long ago that became frozen. Alchemical transformation is how I describe the experience within me. Schuyler is not a therapist but her mastery is in healing trauma and she is unparalleled. I could not more highly recommend her. -KRW
From a present client moving through addiction recovery:
Schuyler is a gifted guide of life. She has worked with me to get out of my head and into the body to feel. For the first time in my long journey, I’ve had significant breakthroughs because of her empathy, intuitive gifts, and gentle firmness when needed. I feel alive. -MO
And from a workshop participant who also did 1:1 work:
Schuyler is a conduit for teachings that are deeply needed in our times. She weaves together several vital threads of spiritual practice and leads their fruits back home — rooting them in our bodies, in the land, in our ancestral and present human relationships, in the sovereign will that makes effective participation possible, in the open heart that can lovingly hold the immensity of the troubled world that beckons for our service, in words of wisdom and truth, in the eye of the imagination that opens new possibilities, and in the higher intuition that gently guides us toward the paths that are ours to walk. Schuyler is a teacher for those who yearn to wake up firmly rooted on the earth and release their potential in service of the new world that awaits us if we answer to our deepest callings. – SH
I am grateful as I re-read these words. I pour all of myself into my healing and teaching. Every client is a gift and a teacher to me, too. The process is mutual, not one-way. I try to stay in the reality of that and feel real LOVE when I spend a lot of time with someone on their journey.
I don’t do one-off sessions; preferring that we both commit to at least 6 sessions because the work is amplified as we build rapport and trust. Cost per session ranges from $200-$350/hour. If you’re curious about whether working 1:1 with me is right for you now, schedule a 30-minute consultation here:
Omg what a powerful story... yes, angels are everywhere... even (especially?) in the midst of devastation...
