Coming Home Meditation Is Back Tomorrow
Join me for a meditation on the third eye - the ajna chakra
Dear Friends,
Tomorrow I’ll be back on Zoom at 9-10am EST for a new Coming Home meditation. All are welcome. If you’ve been following me for a while, then you’ll know that I’ve been working through the chakras since the beginning of the year; starting at the root. We’re now entering the territory of the ajna chakra or third eye. We spend two weeks with each chakra.
I’ve been looking forward to this. I spend a lot of time in the lower chakras, as that’s been a big part of my journey for the past…decade or so: grounding, coming into the body and into deeper relation with Earth. But, the upper chakras (above the heart center) have been inviting, intriguing and opening to me recently.
I feel almost new-agey (not in a good way) talking about working with the third eye. “Opening the third eye” is such a cliché of spiritual attainment. But, the best part of this chakra deep-dive for me has been getting beyond the conventional and flat descriptions of these profound energetic centers to the heart of their real function and magic as integral centers in the soul’s body (the aetheric body, the astral body, the Vajra body, there are many names). They work together, along with the nadis and bindus as the interface between our consciousness and Reality.
I try to facilitate a direct experience of these chakras so each of us can meet our own subtle body where it is and work with what we find there. It’s a practice of building intimacy with our own subtle sensing and system. Because the subtle body is causal to the material body, we can head off physical illness and heal at a very deep level—physically, psychologically—when we have access to and are caring for it.
So, tomorrow…the third eye. As inspiration…
Whatever you wish to see can be seen all at once in this body. This universal form can show you all that you now desire, as well as whatever you may desire in the future. Everything is here completely.
But you cannot see Me with your present eyes. Therefore I give to you divine eyes by which you can behold My mystic opulence. —Bhagavad Gita 11.7-8
And from Fundamentals of Chakras by Lam Van Kiet:
The awakening of the ajna center is primarily the result of the development of a [person’s] personality to the point of integration. (Bailey, Esoteric Psychology Volume II, 1942, p. 535)…The ajna center like the throat center is related to creation, but is not the organ of creation. It registers or focuses the intention to create and embodies the idea lying behind active creativity.
I hope you can join me!
