TOMORROW evening from 6-8pm EST, David Sauvage and I will be engaging in an embodied conversation about how to work with anger. This is a really special experience of communication-as-healing. You can register here:
“Clean” Anger or Mirror-Like Wisdom
Working with anger for the past few weeks I have been learning a lot about the nature of this powerful emotion and its various forms of expression. I’ve looked at it through an alchemical lens and opened myself to the experience of it so I can study it more immediately. I have learned that anger is:
fast-moving, intense, and powerful energy in the body, hard to hold, which can be scary
a protector of boundaries, an assertion of boundaries and of “I/me/mine”
penetrating—in good ways and bad: we can see more and we can hurt others
can be hot/explosive or cold/seething/stonewalling
transformational - it destroys, but it can also change things that are stuck or on the wrong course
hard for women to express for fear of being seen as crazy, bitchy, witchy or wild
hard for men to hold and express for fear of being violent or scaring or hurting others
a potent energy that, when it is without aggression, can destroy ignorance. It is in this sense…sacred.
Join David and me tomorrow as we seek Divine guidance on the question of how to work with anger. Or come to the meditation on Wednesday morning as we work with transmuting our anger so it can become a tool for cutting through delusion and ignorance.
Anger has been a mystery for me for a long time. It feels good to get to know it better. It’s even becoming … a friend.
