Coming Home Meditation Tomorrow at 9am EST ~ Humility and Pride
Tomorrow's meditation will be an exploration of this dynamic duo or polarity
Dear Friends,
We’ll take a break from the subtle senses tomorrow to explore an opposing pair of qualities: humility and pride. We’ll play with the tension and also how they complement each other. Both, in their healthy expression, are necessary for mankind to excel. And both, in their unhealthy expression, are detrimental to progress.
It may be simplistic, but perhaps pride is essential to sovereignty, while humility is critical to collaboration within the collective. But, you could just as easily reverse the terms here and the sentiment would also be true!
I think of the lion and the mouse. Maybe this ancient fable contains wisdom we can apply to our own lives in this moment. Are you expressing more mouse or lion right now? When does each one serve you?
And then for our sit, the most important question—Can we find both in their richest expression within ourselves simultaneously?
Come discuss and sit in mediation with us from 9-10:15am EST tomorrow morning. Here is the link:
The Lion and the Mouse From Aesop’s Fables
Once when a Lion was asleep a little Mouse began running up and down upon him. This soon awakened the Lion, who placed his huge paw upon the Mouse and opened his big jaws to swallow him.
“Pardon, O King,” cried the little Mouse, “forgive me this time, I shall never forget it: and I may be able to do you a favor in the future.” The Lion was so taken at the idea of the Mouse being able to help him, that he let him go.
Some time after, the Lion was caught in a trap, and the hunters tied him to a tree. Just then the little Mouse happened to pass by, and seeing the sad plight of the Lion, went up to him and soon gnawed away the ropes that bound the King of the Beasts. “Was I not right?” said the little Mouse.
Moral: Everyone has need of the other, or a kindness is never wasted.
