Embodiment Hour Tomorrow @ The Stoa ~ Refinement of Process
Join me to help ideate and refine what this important offering can be.
Dear Friends,
I started holding Embodiment Hour sessions at The Stoa three months ago. The first was on January 13. This feels like a great time to assess how the practice has been for those who have attended and to explore the possibilities for refinement.
Tomorrow, instead of our usual format of looking at a piece of cultural stimulus and feeling our way through it together, I will open with a few words about what I believe this practice can be; the niche I feel it holds within the sense making community; and some challenges (design flaws) I’ve felt arising. We will also sit and cultivate presence and awareness in our bodies and we will….What do you call an embodied brainstorm? A bodystorm? Somehow, that doesn’t sound quite right. Anyway…I want to hear from you about:
What you enjoy/what has been working
What has been challenging/what needs refinement
How this practice has (or hasn’t) entered your daily life or influenced you
What you see as the potential for this kind of practice
It feels important, given the intersubjective nature of the practice, to include some other voices and perspectives in the design of the sessions. At the same time, I feel a loose kind of ownership/stewardship of what is still a nascent process. I want to honor its infancy and don’t want to stunt it or force it to be something it doesn’t want to be when it grows up :) This is vulnerable and exciting for me.
Please join me tomorrow if you feel called. It will also be a good time to ask any questions you may hold about what embodiment is and how it works. Come even if you haven’t yet attended an Embodiment Hour session to meet some folks and see where we’re coming from. I feel so grateful to Peter Limberg and The Stoa for providing this space for incubation.
We’ll meet as usual for one hour at noon EST:
Also, if you’ve never joined us and would like to see what we’re up to, here is a recording of our January 20th event…an early iteration.
Upcoming Events
I have a few things brewing. They will be announced in the coming days.
The first and most pressing event is a space holding for men and women around intense feelings arising in the culture around the polarity of the masculine and feminine, especially in light of the Roe v. Wade decision (leak) and the Johnny Depp defamation trial. This will likely be one evening early next week and will be co-hosted by my dear friend and collaborator, David Sauvage.
