Prayers for Los Angeles
This Wednesday, January 15
9-10am PT/12-1pm ET
Our event on Sunday was tender, uplifting, and potent. We had a mix of folks on the ground, folks who have been evacuated from their homes, and many others who are currently far away from family and friends in LA. One friend brought prayers from her home in North Carolina where she shared a little of her experience with Hurricane Helene. She extended a virtual helping hand across the country from one recovering community to another.
Several folks in our session spoke some form of this prayer, “Please don’t let this be a news cycle. Please do not let this pass from our awareness and our hearts…please keep the prayers flowing!”
Let’s do.
My beloved,
, and I will host this circle. It’s open to all who feel called to DO SOMETHING but maybe aren’t sure what. It’s open to those who believe in the power of collective prayer and those willing to give it a shot. It’s open to those who long to gather with others in space where the sacred is centered and to those who know (or suspect or remember) that prayer is LOVE in action; PRAYER IS SERVICE.The prayer we offer is open to all. It’s not tied to any particular religion or lineage or tradition. It’s an effective “technology” and ritual for channeling Love to the places and beings who need it. It recognizes the unified field, the fact that we are all connected. And it calls on higher powers, benevolent unseen forces, angels, bodhisattvas, devas, ancestors and other helping hands to increase our efficacy and precision. We make ourselves vessels for this.

The devas of the earth, the land, the nature spirits, the elementals…they need our coherent prayer energy to work miracles, to be appeased. This is part of what we humans can do to restore balance.

We gather to offer our heartfelt prayers to the good people who are working night and day to stop the fires and provide safety and shelter to those in need—humans, animals, plants. We offer them what we can to uplift their spirits and give them strength to persevere.

So many are in the experience of letting go. We pray to send courage and support to those still in the hard place of not-knowing; to those grieving; and to those facing a lengthy recovery.
My partner, Ari, and his daughter have lived in the Palisades for years. Whenever I am there, I make offerings to the land in the form of mandalas—a sacred art forms for communicating with the devas and Nature and for establishing a sacred space, a space of protection and focus. Over nearly four years, I’ve made probably over one hundred mandalas all around the Palisades. I’ve been returning to my photos of these mandalas as I’ve been grieving the loss of that special place (as we knew it—surely it will rejuvenate). I offer them here on IG in two posts. I hope they bring you some solace and inspiration.
Hope to see you on Wednesday!
