Welcome to the Art of Emergence
A place for feeling our way into to the future. This is how we go on...
Welcome to my Art of Emergence Project!
How we go on is a phrase that dropped into my dreams a few years ago and it is a hook upon which I hang my work. I’m always searching for the wisdom and ways that will bring us into closer alignment with Truth, the Sacred, and the Order that lies deep in the wisdom of Nature. Coming home to the body, to each other in community, and to a sense of trust and belonging here on our Earth… are some of the keys to how we go on.
I believe this is an incredible time for the human family. We’re being guided into an evolutionary process—a metamorphosis—that has profound implications for our survival and thriving here on earth. To get to the higher levels of organization, the HEALTHIER levels we’re striving for, we must go through a detoxification process.
The experience is wild, organic, powerful…It can feel destabilizing; it can feel like fragmentation, chaos, disillusionment, confusion, polarization. It can also feel expansive, ecstatic, mind-blowing, orgasmic. What is your capacity for the high highs and the low lows? What is your comfort level with uncertainty? How ready are you to surrender? And how deep is your trust? These are questions that interest me.
What also interests me is HOW. How do we do it? How do we show up with each other moment-to-moment? How do we cultivate a community of practice? How do we change the culture NOW? And yes…How do we go on?
I will share here all the breadcrumbs I find as we walk into that future. I will share the practices and thoughts and insights that are coming through. Sometimes this will be written, sometimes it will be visual art, sometimes it will be in the form of video practices, meditations, and conversations. Sometimes I will launch courses and offer live sessions so we can do this together in real-time (!!! fun!!!).
Elements of the Art of Emergence Mandala:
Coming Home Practice—Embodied meditations and contemplative practices dedicated to calming the mind, opening the heart, establishing a strong ground, exploring and enlivening the subtle body. The practice is an antidote to the subtle ways we exit our experience and check out. Our presence is found deep in the body and in connection with ourselves, each other, and this beautiful planet.
ART of Emergence—Mandalas and poems crafted with the materials at hand and co-created with Nature; art as alchemy, art a healing process.
Farm Fresh—Vignettes that transmit wisdom and insight from the land where we live here in the Hudson Valley.
Courses and Live Events—From time to time I will offer intensives for small groups of practitioners to go deeper into the content of the embodiment practices of Coming Home. I’ll also offer content from podcasts and courses I teach across the internet in places like The Stoa (Embodiment Hour) or Rebel Wisdom or on my own.
Conversations and Drop-In Collective Spaces—Live group experiences offered spontaneously with guests or without.
All of my Medium articles from the past few years will also be available here.

1:1 Coaching, Spiritual Guidance, and Dharma Inquiry
I work with a number of clients one-on-one—from corporate CEOs to artists to anyone in transition! The work is deep and transformational. We can work on healing trauma in the body, moving through life changes with more ease and clarity, making decisions with certainty and courage, leading groups through chaos, spiritual awakening, private meditation instruction, and finding your path and purpose (dharma inquiry). You can read more about this work here or send me an email for a 20-minute consultation to see if this might be the right fit for you.
Or Have a Listen…
Chad Jayadev Woodford has been a good friend for the past few years. We have a lot in common as yogis who also work in the business world. He's smart, principled, and insightful. On his podcast, Spiritual But Not Ridiculous, we talk about desire, magic, tantra, and the potential of modern spirituality.
I hope you will subscribe. I hope you will participate. This is a communal experience.
Schuyler, as I'm sure you know, it was lovely to connect on your session with Layman at Philosophy Portal. I'd love to be in touch. And I am standing in line, virtually speaking, for the book. A Katherine Mansfield story once made it possible for me to take a deep breath and step back from my family in late adolescence. I want to hear more!!!
